Sammie and Justin-A “Something Blue” Summer Wedding at Gaillardia Country Club

Weddings

May 30, 2023

Every wedding day is unique, but Sammie and Justin’s was especially unique because in true Oklahoma fashion, we almost ended up in a tornado! The day started out sunny and beautiful, then progressively got darker as the storm clouds rolled in (you can see for yourself in the window reflections of the Gaillardia building in the background!). Just as we were finishing up wedding party photos, circulating clouds and the most intense thunderstorm arrived. We all ran for cover inside and stood around for at least 10 minutes, stunned and not sure what to do. The doors of the reception space were blowing open and water was flooding in, and the ceremony chairs and flowers were completely overturned. Sammie and Justin remained so positive the whole time, and we decided to just move forward with family photos indoors as we waited for the storm to pass.

After about 30 minutes, the rain left and miraculously, the skies cleared right back up! Amy Ray Events and their team set the entire ceremony space back up, hand dried the chairs, and the guests were ushered out to start the ceremony a little later than anticipated, but still in their dream outdoor location! It was a beautiful, heartfelt ceremony and then the sun came out for the most glorious sunset husband and wife photos! The Gobens ended their night with the best party surrounded by their family and friends, and got the most unforgettable story to share for the rest of their lives!
